The Rockwell gets a great review

“Great home for a month” -4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2012

They call it a home away from home. I call it correct, but incomplete. After spending a full month at the Rockwell, I have managed to discover that the slogan “a home away from home” is just one of the main ingredients of the cake. The hotel is just a fusion of ingredients, accommodating and stimulating every taste bud.
The unusual but challenging layout of the rooms/apartments offers a good sense of taste and diversity. As every human being is unique and different, so are the rooms at the Rockwell. Spacious enough to accommodate any type of traveler, having a fully equipped kitchen for the longstayers and even offering the opportunity to do your own wash, puts you straight into a homey environment. As if all these weren’t enough to please you straight away, the fact that every room as a large balcony with a view where you can enjoy your morning coffee while absorbing the stunning view of the Table Mountain, is an enormous plus.
The lobby, bar and restaurant are very welcoming and the friendly staff is right there to attend your requirements. The bar is staffed with knowledgeable bartenders who can advise you on a nice cocktail or a scotch with no ice but a drop of water. A nice touch is the white piano that doesn’t serve only as decoration, but on weekends is also played by some skillful hands.
Rockwell’s location is discrete, but not isolated. Being off the main road, it offers tranquility and privacy, but it takes less than two minutes to hit all the action. The selection of pubs, bars, restaurants and shopping malls in the vicinity is a huge bonus.
The man behind Rockwell’s scenes, just wanted to offer a “home away from home”, but he failed considerably. What he created instead is an environment where style, coziness and comfort shake hands. Small gestures do come from big hearts….
