The Rockwell gets a great review

“Great home for a month” -4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2012

They call it a home away from home. I call it correct, but incomplete. After spending a full month at the Rockwell, I have managed to discover that the slogan “a home away from home” is just one of the main ingredients of the cake. The hotel is just a fusion of ingredients, accommodating and stimulating every taste bud.
The unusual but challenging layout of the rooms/apartments offers a good sense of taste and diversity. As every human being is unique and different, so are the rooms at the Rockwell. Spacious enough to accommodate any type of traveler, having a fully equipped kitchen for the longstayers and even offering the opportunity to do your own wash, puts you straight into a homey environment. As if all these weren’t enough to please you straight away, the fact that every room as a large balcony with a view where you can enjoy your morning coffee while absorbing the stunning view of the Table Mountain, is an enormous plus.
The lobby, bar and restaurant are very welcoming and the friendly staff is right there to attend your requirements. The bar is staffed with knowledgeable bartenders who can advise you on a nice cocktail or a scotch with no ice but a drop of water. A nice touch is the white piano that doesn’t serve only as decoration, but on weekends is also played by some skillful hands.
Rockwell’s location is discrete, but not isolated. Being off the main road, it offers tranquility and privacy, but it takes less than two minutes to hit all the action. The selection of pubs, bars, restaurants and shopping malls in the vicinity is a huge bonus.
The man behind Rockwell’s scenes, just wanted to offer a “home away from home”, but he failed considerably. What he created instead is an environment where style, coziness and comfort shake hands. Small gestures do come from big hearts….

Montagu Country Hotel: New car park

Our new parking area is finished! Some of the very first cars to grace the revamped parking area were a selection of classics, driven by members of the "Suid Kaap Ou Motor Klub". Our hotel has become a popular spot and we have plenty of car
clubs that come to visit. Some say it’s because of the beautiful roads and secure parking, but we’re sure it’s mainly because of our beautiful accommodation, tranquil spa, and delicious food!

Agulhas Country Lodge watches a a baby Rock Kestrel

This is a baby rock kestrel.  The parents have been nesting in the eaves of the balcony roof for 12 years. They mate for life and apparently can reach the age of 26. They have, in our experience, produced 1 healthy chick every year. Once I thought there were 2 but I am not sure. Like all babies, it screams and performs and demands food all day long. He is so sweet to look at!

Augusta de Mist - Guest Review

“Great romantic weekend”
Reviewed November 18, 2012 NEW
My wife and I shared a lovely romantic weekend with Michel and Henk. The hospitality was extraordinary and turned what promised to be a pleasant weekend into a special one. The decor was beautiful, edgy, and knowing--combining traditional and modern elements effortlessly and tastefully, delightfully. It's clear that there is intelligence, taste, and respect for aesthetic standards in their thinking about the place. The gardens were lovely. But the food was more than exquisite. Personally crafted with Henk at the helm of the kitchen, the cuisine was diverse with both old standards and fusionesque innovations. Don't miss their preserves, and don't forget to ask about their wine selections--culled, of course, from the best of South Africa's wine region--including a few surprises. How many B&B's in rural South Africa, for example, offer Kentucky bourbon? I thought it fit right in. (Henk is terrific, by the way, in accommodating special diets; they know the restaurateurs of the area and can make spot on recommendations.) Make sure to ask Michel about his Lithuanian, American, and Canadian backgrounds.

Van Loveren: Happy Customers!

Below is a letter we received from a happy customer - Winston A Beukes

Lectori Salutem!(Bonita)

You are most welcome, Winston!
