Uwe Koetter: Rings From this Month

THE CLASSIC PRINCESS SOLITAIRE

By far the largest stone in the Halo Collection at 7.63ct - it has a classic solitaire setting. The idea was to showcase this exceptional stone, and because of its size and beauty Johan Louw expressed that he wanted it to be the talking and focal point of the ring.

THE RAVISHING RADIANT

The diamond is a classic shaped diamond that required a classic setting and design. In terms of design, Johan wanted to elevate the stone so as to “present” it. The design strengthens the shape of the stone with small diamonds surrounding it. Johan also wanted to create a cushion of smaller diamonds on which to rest the magnificent stone as one can see when viewing the ring side on.

THE ROMANTIC TRILLIANT

The romantic inspiration of the Trilliant is that it represents three aspects of a relationship - you, me and us! The challenge with this design was to not outshine the diamond, but still make it an interesting ring. Like the diamond, the shank that holds the setting is three-sided. The idea was to repeat the tri-pattern in the ring’s band at various angles to support the stone and show it off.

THE CLASSIC SOLITAIRE

One cannot beat a classic solitaire setting and especially when working with a classic round brilliant diamond. The classic shape of the tapered band is turned around and repeated in the claws that hold the stone. The stone and the lines of the band and claws are designed to become a harmonious whole in the simplicity of the lines.
