The annual Riebeek Valley Olive Festival will be held on 5 & 6 May 2012. The Royal Hotel in Riebeek Kasteel will be hosting a Food & Wine Pairing evening in collaboration with Boekenhoutskloof towards the end of May.  We will announce the exact date soon.

Action-Packed events planned at De Hoop

What an exciting time we have ahead of us for the remainder of the year at De Hoop, with an action packed calendar of events planned.  It includes an Aghulhas Wine Festival, Photographic Events, Classical Music Weekends, A Fly in Weekend for Aviators, Xmas in July, Birding Weekends and Cooking Workshops, Stargazing, amongst others.  Look out for the final calendar which we will post some time next week.

Yellow Tail by the ton!

I just wanted to say a massive thank you for arranging our weekend away to De Hoop.  We had the most amazing time, and were thoroughly spoilt by the awesome staff, the stunning location and the delicious food.  Our guide was excellent, so enthusiastic and knowledgeable we all learned so much - KIRSTY PERRING, JENMAN AFRICAN SAFARIS

We had a wonderful weekend at De Hoop, thank you so much for organizing it for us. It was so relaxing and peaceful and we stayed in a lovely cottage. The food at the restaurant was delicious and we could have stayed another week, just kidding! Easter Weekend with the Family

Baby Elephant born near Riverbend

This Elephant calf was born near River Bend Lodge on the 3rd of March 2012.  This image was taken the next morning by our sharp spotting guide.

Augusta Extra Vierge

Something that will be covered in much more detail in future posts will be the launch of Augusta Extra Vierge, a self-catering homestead in Riebeek Kasteel.

The house is beautiful with views in every direction, while the interior is quirky and fun. Very different in style to Augusta de Mist in Swellendam, this little sister in Riebeek is just perfect for wine excursions and amazing food adventures.

Augusta Extra Vierge sleeps six at most, has a gorgeous pool with a view, and the property has a small olive grove and large lemon orchard.
